A spread of Innis Herald newspapers on a table

5 years of Editorial Experience

The Varsity Newspaper

Staff Accessibility Correspondent

From 2021 to 2025, I wrote forThe Varsity, covering disability and accessibility issues across education, workplaces, architecture, media representation, as well as topics in pop culture and Canadian politics.

Copy Editor

I also contributed to The Varsity‘s copy editing team, occasionally proofreading articles and verifying sources for weekly publication throughout the years.

Accomplishments

How Accessible is Robarts?

I wrote the investigative feature “How Accessible is Robarts?” after eight months of in-depth research and interviews with principal architects from leading firms Superkül and Diamond Schmitt, as well as physical accessibility advocate Thea Kurdi. Following publication, I was invited to present my findings to architects and designers at Superkül. The article has since been included as a recommended reading on the syllabus for CSE241Y: Introduction to Critical Disability Studies at the University of Toronto.

Wakanda Forever and Haiti

My op-ed and cultural commentary piece “Wakanda Forever and Haiti” is the most viewed article on The Varsity’s website, with over 22,000 views and readership spanning across North America.

The Innis Herald

Online Editor

From 2021 to 2023, I served as the Online Editor for The Innis Herald, where I oversaw the digital publication of the newspaper on both the website and Issuu. In this role, I managed a team of junior editors, ensured timely uploads, and maintained editorial quality through careful proofreading and coordination.

Co-Founder & Podcast Director

From 2022 to 2023, I co-founded and led The Innis Herald Podcast, serving as its director, producer, editor, and host. I launched the podcast to spotlight the work of our contributors and celebrate the vibrant community at Innis College by interviewing students, faculty, and staff. I also managed a team of podcast editors, and through our collaborative efforts, we produced 10 episodes. The podcast has since continued under new leadership and is now entering its fourth season.

Top Contributor

From 2020 to 2025, I have been a leading contributor to The Innis Herald, consistently writing for every issue over five years. My work spans student life, pop culture, accessibility, and politics. In addition to editorial pieces, I also published personal essays and short fiction under the pen name Amelia Arrows.
